Following on from two weeks of discussion and debate at COP26 and drawing together the themes of earlier events in our Climate Emergency Series, this event will address how we deliver net-zero commitments in a just and inclusive way.
The COP26
summit provided world leaders, campaigners, and members of the public to discuss the climate crisis. But how do we turn those discussions into concrete and meaningful action?
Scotland's Programme for Government is committed to confronting the climate emergency, with plans to build a net-zero economy that is fair for all and publish Just Transition plans for every sector and region. £500 million was also set aside for the North East and Moray, which will support and accelerate the region's transition as we reduce reliance on fossil fuels. But what else needs to be done?
In addition to the ongoing climate crisis, we are still feeling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we recover from the pandemic, we have the opportunity to rebuild a greener, fairer society through a Just Transition - a response to the climate emergency that focuses on economic, social and environmental justice.
Join us for a day of in-depth discussion and debate as we examine the actions we can take within the public, private and third sectors to tackle
the climate crisis and deliver a Just Transition.
You're welcome to pass this invitation on to colleagues in the public and third sectors. Complimentary
tickets are only available to the public and third sectors. Private companies should contact us directly to book a space.
